Watercolor is my "medium-of-choice" which I use in a mostly representational way.
I am partial to landscapes. Nothing makes me want to paint like the sight of a setting sun, a moody sky, a calm body of water, or the patchwork of farm fields.
Watercolors do seem to have a will of their own. Even though I begin a painting with a sketchy drawing, I often end up abandoning it after a few brushstrokes due to a chance intermingling of colors that suggests another direction. I find that if I try too hard to adhere to a pattern, the result is stiff and often uninteresting to me. Maybe it's because I'm happier when following a rainbow!
